The Word

Be in the Word. Read the Word. Let the Word read you. What does it say? How can I summarize each passage into two or three sentences? What does it mean? What does each passage teach me? What is the spiritual truths or principles in these verses? How can I apply this? What is the Lord specifically leading me to do in response to this passage?

Hear yourself

Step outside your thoughts. Think about what you think about - record it. Write it down.

Investigate

See what the Bible says about it. Write down the truth of what God says about the thoughts you think about. Here’s a tool we have for you - https://revtrev.com/realme

Narrate

Ask God what he thinks about your thoughts. Write down what His response is. Ask Him what you should do to get the truth into your thinking. Write down that response. Habakkuk 2:1-2 - Tune to flow. Be at rest. See Jesus. Record response.

Know

Get the truth inside you. Reinforce that truth in your mind. Find a memorable action to reinforce that truth seven times a day, 21 days in a row, in three sessions of 21 days.

Examples:

- Memorize scripture like "God shall meet all my needs..." and replace the worry with this each time you find your mind doing a "what if" financial worry.
- Cultivate a strong awareness of saying to yourself, each time you worry, something like: "I don't need to worry; that's causing inflammation in my brain and making me worse."
- Smile each time you feel yourself worry and imagine yourself looking into God's eyes as He carries you.

It’s scientifically proven this will reform your brain cells. This works on the physical level.

Have you ever wondered how some people seem to exude an unshakable sense of peace, regardless of the chaos and negativity swirling around them? It's as if they possess a secret formula for maintaining tranquility at all times. In a world where stress and anxiety have become the norm, finding inner peace can feel like an elusive dream. But what if I told you that there is a way to access a state of calm and serenity no matter the circumstances?

The God of all hope fills me peace and joy as I trust in Him, so I can overflow with hope by the power of Holy Spirit. As I trust in Him, He gives me peace and joy so I can be filled with hope at all times and in every situation.

I know when I trusting Him because I have peace and joy and hope. I know I need to trust in the Lord with all my heart. It’s a decision, it’s an action and it’s an emotion. It’s a decision to trust. I say to myself, “Trust in the lord”. It’s an action I do - my trust needs to look like something. The action that shows trust is obedience to what God tells me to do.

One time God told Judah through Isaiah ““In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…” Repentance and rest was the action…but they would have none of it. Another time through Jahaziel God told them to “Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem.” and they did it and saw God’s deliverance. The action that shows trust is obedience to what God tells me to do.

Finally when you do anything with your whole heart you feel the emotions of doing it with your whole heart. When you trust Him with your whole heart you feel peace and hope joy. And that’s how you can have peace at all times and in every situation. May this Negativity Fast Reflection - I Have Peace At All Times encourage you to trust God with your whole heart.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 44 - I Pursue The Presence Of God

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Be encouraged to follow your soul's pursuit of God as a beacon through negativity in this deeply spiritual reflection.

In His presence I find peace and rest, holiness and reverence, transformation and renewal, provision and protection, love and compassion and fullness of joy. Why am I not more constantly seeking His face always? (see Philippians 4:7; Matthew 11:28-29; Psalm 21:6; Exodus 3:5; Hebrews 12:28-29; 2 Corinthians 3:18;Romans 12:1-2; Psalm 31:19-20; Psalm 91:1-2; 1 John 4:16; Psalm 86:15; Psalms 16:11)

I was created to walk with God in the garden in the cool of the day. In heaven—where I’ll walk with Him on the streets made of translucent gold—I’ll have peace and comfort, satisfaction and fulfillment, love and contentment, awe and wonder, and praise and worship of the One. Why wait for heaven for it to start? (See Revelation 21:21; Revelation 21:4; Revelation 19:1;1 Corinthians 13:12-13; Revelation 7:16-17; Psalms 65:8-13)

I hear you say, “Come and walk and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” (Psalm 28:7)

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 43 - My Light Shines Bright

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Read about overcoming negativity to let your inner light shine with unyielding brightness in this reflection.

“Let your light shine before people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” This is what Jesus told us near the end of the sermon on the mount. He just finished saying that when we give we shouldn’t let our left hand know what our right hand is doing. When we pray we do it secret, not on the corner so people can see us. Fasting should be done, but don’t make it look like you're fasting.

Does anyone else scratch your head at what He said about doing good works so people may see them?

Motivations matter, I get that. My motivates make the difference in how I respond emotionally to what I do or don’t do. I can’t do it for the dough or for the show or do it worry or the hurry. I get that from the sermon on the mount. But I know it’s so easy to do good works and fool myself to thinking it’s not so I get noticed and praised by others.

I guess that’s why the crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by being praised. (Proverbs 27:21),

When I get praised by others for the good works that they see, self-deflection doesn’t shine back on God. “No, it’s not that good.” The metaphor is I’m like the moon that reflects the to the side of the world that away from the sun. When I self-deflect it’s like a solar eclipse when the moon gets in between the sun and side of the world that facing the sun. Any light the moon reflects back to the sun is negligible and unnoticeable.

Maybe I shouldn’t do good works?

When I make excuses to not do good works it’s like a lunar eclipse where the world gets in between moon and the sun so the moon can’t reflect to sun’s light to the side of the world that’s away from the sun. We are created to shine the light of the sun to side of the world that’s away from the sun.

So what’s the solution?

There is time when the moon is the perfect position to reflect the most light to the side of world that’s away from the sun. In the northern hemisphere it’s in the autumn. It’s a full moon and even sometimes it’s the closest it will be to us in the month and we’ll call it a super moon. More commonly it’s just known as the harvest moon.

When people see us, they see the light of Christ. We can’t hide it. We can’t get in the way of it. Just being the you God create you to be makes a noticeable difference in your every day world. May you be encourage in this Negativity Fast Reflection - My Light Shines Bright.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 42 - I Build Myself Up

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Join the quest for positivity as you learn to build yourself up in this reflection.

When I was in seminary, I often told pentecostal jokes. I figured it was the group I grew up in, so we’re the only ones I should probably poke fun at. Apparently some people didn’t’ know that about me.

One day I came back into the class with a fresh cup of coffee before the break was over. There was a group in the back corner and I went to see what was going on. One of the guys turned to me and said, “Can you believe these guys still think tongues is still a gift for today?”

“Hey me too!” I laughed, “I pray them every day!” Then I challenged, “How do you strengthen yourself in the Lord?” He didn’t have an answer and turned to leave.

I don’t know if I ever talked to that guy again.

But it’s a good question.

How do you strengthen yourself in the Lord?

Praying in the Holy Spirit is how Jude tells us to do it. Paul told the church in Corinth to excel in gifts that build up each other, and tongues is a gift that builds up yourself. He wished that could all speak in tongues so they could build themselves up. (Although he’d rather they’d all prophecy so they could build up the gathered church).

I build myself up in the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. I don’t know what I say, but Holy Spirit prays through me. As I pray, though my mind is unfruitful, I build myself up. I think about what is good and right and honourable and worthy of praise. I pray in faith knowing the Spirit helps me in my weakness.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 41 - I Ask For Wisdom And I Get Wisdom

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Explore the journey of seeking and receiving wisdom as a tool to transcend negativity in this insightful reflection.

If there is a prayer I can always pray with confidence-because I know the will of God and I know when I pray according to His will I will have what I ask of Him-it’s the prayer for wisdom.

I so enjoying praying for people who are asking God for wisdom. I tell them after “now don’t be afraid to move on the wisdom that comes to you” And I remind them that wisdom that is from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favouritism and is always sincere.

It’s a prayer I pray in faith because it’s a prayer God has so consistently answered for me. Wisdom doesn’t show the staircase, it often simply shows the next step. Faith gets us to take that next step. Wisdom is proven true by its action. Wisdom is not static but dynamic, guiding believers to live in a manner worthy of their calling.

Of course when we ask for wisdom He gives it generously without finding fault. It’s His will for us to have wisdom. Jesus is the wisdom of God. Be inspired with the Negativity Fast Reflection - I Ask For Wisdom And I Get Wisdom.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 40 - I Choose To Praise

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Delve into the power of praise as a choice to rise above negativity in this inspiring personal reflection.

Praising God is another thing we are told to do with our whole heart. (See http://revtrev.link/heart) Remember, the Hebrew understanding of heart was that it’s the seat of our decision and our emotions and our actions.

It’s a choice to praise God before the answer comes, in that dark of the night and in the middle of the storm. We feel joy when we praise Him. God inhabits the praise of His people and in His presence is fullness of joy. And our actions to praise can include singing, playing instruments, praying, dancing, testifying His good deeds, gratitude, living righteously, offering sacrifices, meditating, kneeling or bowing down, shouting or crying out, and living a life of obedience.

It’s natural and unstoppable to praise God when the answer comes, the storms clears or the night turns to dawn. When are hearts are set on Him, praise naturally erupts at those times. Before those times it’s a choice and that choice can be toxic if we don’t align our whole heart.

You’ve felt that right? You’ve sang the songs when they were meaningful and powerful and you’ve sang the same songs when they sounded hollow and just didn’t feel true. The difference is praising God with your whole heart. When you praise God with a decision, your emotion and an action, it’s alive and full of meaning. If you sing because you’re there and maybe because people are watching you, it feels like something else entirely. It actually feels a bit toxic.

The importance of testimony cannot be overstated. We can remember bad things, focus on bad things, and see more bad things as an inevitable part of our miserable existence. Or, we can remember the good things and focus on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and be overwhelmed by the goodness of God.

The choice is ours.

The Holy Spirit empowers us to accomplish every good work prompted by faith. Remembering God's good works both is and leads to good works prompted by faith.

The saints overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. When we talk about the good things of God with gratitude, we invite Him to do it again.

If He did it for you, He can do it for me. Since He did it for me, He will do it for you. May this Negativity Fast Reflection - "I Remember to Remember" encourage you to remember the good things of God.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 37 - I Trust God With My Broken Dreams

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Find solace in trusting God with shattered dreams, and discover a path to healing and hope beyond negativity.

I know what’s it like to be offended at God. I was offended by Him before I had the words to explain it.

He had me leave a church I loved, sell a house that would have been paid off, get rid of my library so I wouldn’t have to move it, and start all over in New Zealand.

Oh did I mention my Dad was diagnosed with Bulbar ALS—a disease that removed him from community as he lost his ability to speak, removed him from camaraderie as he lost his ability to swallow and removed him from this existence as he lost his ability to breath.

We came back from New Zealand quickly so I could help him publish his book before he passed away.

What it meant to me

When I was a young pastor, more than one person called me "the golden child." Everything I did seemed to work. I was spending 4 hours a day—before anyone knew I was in the office—in His presence, reading His words, waiting for His voice, lost in His presence. It was amazing.

I spent days with my dad so my mom could go to work without fear that he might suffer a terrible accident alone, with no one to help him. I had given up everything and my dad was dying horribly and predictably.

And I didn’t know I could be offended at God.

It took time and several failures, including some that looked like amazing successes, but I've been through the fires and not been burned. I’ve been through the floods and not been overwhelmed. I know He is working all things together for good so that I can become more and more like Jesus. Be encouraged with this Negativity Fast Reflection - I Trust God With My Broken Dreams.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 36 - I Trust In The Lord With All My Heart

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Experience the profound peace of wholehearted trust in the Lord through a personal negativity fast journey.

We need to trust in the Lord with all our heart. That’s our decision to trust Him in spite of the circumstance. The emotion that aligns in peace (and hope and joy) when we’re trusting Him. The action is walking by faith not by sight.

We don’t do this to ignore the most brutal facts of the reality we are facing. But we can’t give God credit for the works of the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. We need to treat all hardship as discipline, knowing we have a good Father who is going to work all things together for good by making us more and more like Jesus through the hardship.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 35 - I Trust The Trustable One

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Read about finding peace in trusting 'The Trustable One', and how it reshapes the fight against negativity.

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus… Song writers from begone years still have so much much to teach us. Do we ever learn?

The thing about spiritual things is that each of us are on our own journey, together. God has no grandkids. We can’t download our experience and knowledge. We can share our experience and knowledge in videos and podcasts and blogs and books. Holy Spirit can take the loaves and fishes we offer and multiply them to feed the multitudes. I want my ceiling to be my kids floor, but while that works on some levels, we’re all on our own journey together.

Why am I going on about this? Because if I could teach anyone, anything it would be to trust in the Trustable One. It’s made the difference in my life.

I sang about trusting Jesus well before I really had to. I didn’t know I could be offended at Him and hold back my trust in Him. I’d complain I didn’t have the peace and hope and joy I once had but it took YEARS to put those together.

If I could download how I learned that to anyone, I’d download it to everyone. Everyone needs to know they trust in the trustable one. May this Negativity Fast Reflection - I Trust The Trustable One help you do that.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 34 - I Trust My Good Father

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Learn to lean on the unwavering support of your good, good Father.

I think the thing I have taught on the most the last several years is trust—how to trust God when life doesn’t make sense and how to be a trustable person.

The work I do is all about building and stewarding trust with people who would probably never—on their own—be in any church I’d belong to. Trust is build consistency over time and accelerated with compassion in tragedy and companionship in teamwork. There are other ways trust can be built, but those are the low-hanging ones we try to do well.

Trust also gets built from testimonies. It can easily be lost by the same. Trust is so important in so much in life and we are starting to realize it as it gets eroded by less trust in companies, political systems and players, churches that have hurt instead of healed, parents who have wounded us or gotten divorced…the list goes on and on.

But never forget that even if your family forsakes you, your God never will. Even if it feels like God has left you, know that—while there is emotional truth in those feelings—it’s not the reality of the situation.

You can trust your good, good Father may this Negativity Fast Reflection - I Trust My Good Father remind you of that truth today.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 32 - I Humble Myself Towards Others

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Explore the path to humility and forgiveness in a reflection on asking for forgiveness.

Why is humility so often treated as a joke?

Lord, it’s hard to be humble, when you perfect in every way…

My experience has taught me to humble myself or be humbled by others and that you never want to be humbled by God. God opposed the proud and gives grace to the humble.

Is there anything more counter-cultural in our world right now? Most of us are offended to hear that pride goes destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall (You thought it was “pride goes before a fall” didn’t you?). Look it up and you’ll see I’m more right than you.

Wait… was that pride on my part? He writes with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek.

We all need more of God’s grace in our lives. We’re told do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility we are to consider each other ahead of ourselves and look out for each others’ interests ahead of our own.

I humble myself towards others when I sin against them. It can be a sin of omission or a sin of commission. It can be a mistake or it may be intentional. Hurt people hurt people and I’ve been hurt by people and do hurt people. I don’t excuse the pain I cause, I repent and make amends. I label what I’ve done or failed to do as wrong and acknowledge the hurt it has caused.

Negativity Fast Reflection - Day 31 - I Forgive With My Whole Heart

Today's Negativity Fast Reflection. Discover the transformative power of forgiveness in this heartfelt reflection on a journey away from negativity.

It’s tough sometimes to forgive with your whole heart, , but it’s life-giving to learn that you can and how to do it.

Our whole heart—according to ancient Hebrews—is making the decision, showing action inline with that decision and feeling the emotion tied to that decision. So when we forgive, we decide to forgive, we do something to bless the one who cursed us and we feel like we’ve forgiven.

But what if you don’t feel like you’ve forgiven. That has little to do with the size of the offence and everything to do with the lie we are believing. When we allow Holy Spirit to show us the lie we’re believing and agree with the Father that it is sin and replace the lie with the truth He reveals, we will always feel like we’ve forgiven. That’s what happens when we forgive with our whole heart.

See, I told you it’s tough to forgive with our whole heart. Will you believe me that’s it’s life-giving once we learn to?
